DESCRIPTION:State Masters Athletics Championships Throws Pentathlon at 9.00am\, 10000m Walks (both Race and Club walks) and 10000m Run at 8.30am. \nAthletes need to arrive by 30 min before their event:Walkers and Runners at 8amThrowers at 8.30am.  \nThe three events are to be held  concurrently: \nThrows Pentathlon – 8.30am check in\, 9.00am start. \n10000m Walks (Race and Club walks)– 8.00am check in\, 8.30 am start. \n10000m Run – 8.00am check in\, 8.30 am start. \nTo enter you need to nominate at the information desk on a Wednesday night or email Marinus Haccou. \nNo additional charge payable – SAMA will cover the cost of entry.\nThere will be no requirement to pay a stadium entry fee at the gate. \n \nState Masters Athletics Championships – General Information\nNo charge for the Hurdles\, T&F Pentathlons or Steeplechase – just the normal stadium entry fee.\nThrows Pentathlon and 10km Track Walks and 10km Track Run (1st March)\, Main T&F (25th March and 1st April). DESCRIPTION:South Australian Masters Athletics has again been invited by the South Australian Athletic League to stage a distance handicapped 800m on Saturday 27 December 2025 as part of the Supreme Quilts Bay Sheffield Carnival at Colley Reserve\, Glenelg\, which runs from 27-28 December 2022. \nThe Exurbia SA Masters 800m handicap race will again feature on the Saturday at 7.00pm. The presentations will follow the race. \nFellow members\, family and friends are encouraged to come and watch and to cheer on the runners\, and to mix and mingle with the stars of the track before and after the race. Look for the colourful SAMA marquee located at the northern end of the Reserve\, on its eastern (Colley Terrace) side. \nThis SAMA event is coordinated by Viddy Jermacans\, and this year will be distance-handicapped by a panel of three. \nParticipation is restricted to financial members of SA Masters Athletics. Racing colours will be provided to runners prior to the race. DESCRIPTION:The City-Bay Fun Run is on again in its 51st Year!\nThe 2025 City-Bay Fun Run will take place on Sunday 21 September in Adelaide\, South Australia. \n3km\, 6km\, 12km and Half-Marathon options (various start points). The City-Bay event finish line is on Colley Terrace\, Glenelg. For full information visit the City-Bay website. \nRegistration is open at City-Bay Fun Run Registration. Regular Entry registrations close 31 August 2025 (Late Entry price then applies).  \nVOLUNTEERS NEEDED\nThe City-Bay Fun Run is currently seeking volunteers to help with general administration and various vital support roles during this event. \nThere are roles available in general administration\, such as helping to send out race bibs in the post to participants prior to the event. Additionally\, volunteer opportunities are available during the bib collection process on September 18th\, 19th\, and 20th. \nOn race day\, volunteers will be needed across various locations along the route to support runners and participants. Whether it’s cheering on the racers\, offering water stations\, or helping with other tasks\, your presence will make a huge difference. \nIn past years SAMA has participated in the provision of volunteers to support the City-Bay event and has been financially rewarded for doing so. SUMMARY:SAMA Winter Competition - Week 10 - Relay Challenge #3
DESCRIPTION:Week 10 of SAMA winter competition at Park 16 (Victoria Park-Pakapakanthi):Relay Challenge #3 will have the following event (scratch): \nRun/Club Walk Relay – from 2.15pm; total distance 10km.2.5km or 5km leg per person – touch handover (see panel below for full details about the Relay Challenges). \nTeams can consist of three persons\, with two doing 2.5km and one doing 5km\, or a two person team with both doing 5km.  No need to nominate beforehand\, since teams will be organised on the day. \nIt is all based on handicaps so there is no disadvantage for slower athletes. Teams can be runners\, walkers or a mixture of both. \nPrizes to be won! \nAfternoon Tea: Please bring along a little to share and don’t forget your own thermos or travel mug. \nVenue & Course Information \nPlenty of parking is available on both the sections of East Terrace running north and south of where it intersects with the end of Halifax Street. The start/finish is on the path along East Terrace just to the east of this intersection (as shown in the course map below). \nDepending on the conditions encountered on the day\, the 2.5km course for both runners and walkers will hopefully be on a loop using the wetland trails (see Wetlands course map below). NB. The course includes a short stretch along the path going north past the toilets with a turnaround point. \nCourse maps: \nWetlands course map: Pakapakanthi Wetlands 2.5km course 2022-Relays \nAlternative course map (avoiding wetlands*): Pakapakanthi alternative course 2022-Relays \n*Should the wetland course not be tenable due to excessive water on the gravel paths following heavy rains\, the alternative course will be used (to be confirmed on the day of competition). \n \nRelay Challenges \n\n\n\n> Handicapped Team events – 3 competitors per team\, regardless of whether a runner or walker (ie. can be all runners\, all walkers or mixed).\n\n\n> Competitors can nominate a team or be allocated to one on the day.\n\n\n\n> Total distance increases each week; 6km\, 8km and 10km. Each competitor completes a leg of 1 or 2 loops (to make total distance).\n\n\n> Scratch start for all teams by athlete doing first leg only. Touch handover to team members doing subsequent legs.\n\n\n> Actual time of team for the total distance is compared to the team’s combined estimated time (calculated by adding together each team member’s estimated time for their leg)\, to derive a time difference.\n\n\n>The winning team has the time difference showing most improvement compared with their combined estimate. \n\n\n>Prizes will be awarded on some weeks (refer to Winter Program).

SUMMARY:AMA Postal/SAMA Half Marathon Championships - SAMA 15km Walk Championships
DESCRIPTION:Week 9 of SAMA winter competition  to be held at Park 19\, Glen Osmond Road\, Adelaide including the following events: \nRuns – SAMA Half-Marathon State Championships at 1.00pm. Other distance on offer – 8km 2.15pm\, 4km & 2km 2.30pm. \nWalks – 15km SAMA Walk State Championships at 1.15pm.  There will be SAMA Championships for both Race Walkers and Club Walkers. Other distance on offer – 8km 2.00pm\, 4km & 2km 2.30pm. \nCourse Information\nThe course for the 15km Walk and Half Marathon will use the measured 2km loop (see Course Map below). For the Walk this will involve a 1 km loop from the start and then 7 laps and for the Half Marathon a 1.1km loop from the start and then 10 laps. \nWalks and Runs: 2km-Course-Map-Park19-2024 \nHalf-Marathon course – 1lap x 1.1km & 10 laps x 2km (Out-and-Back Loops) \n15km Walk course – 1lap x 1.0km & 7 laps x 2km (Out-and-Back Loops) \n2025 AMA Postal Half-Marathon Championships\nThe SAMA Half-Marathon\, together with the Adelaide Half-Marathon on 4 May\, the McLaren Vale Half-Marathon on 1 June\, the Barossa Half-Marathon on 24 August\, and the City Bay Half-Marathon on 21 September\, will constitute the South Australian races eligible for the 2025 AMA Postal Half-Marathon Championships. \nAthletes will be required to register separately for the National Championships and are responsible for submitting their results to AMA. \nThe following details should be sent to Robbie Costmeyer (robbie.costmeyer@bigpond.com);Venue and Date of the race(s) with a link to the official results page to allow verification. Masters athletes need only pay the AMA fee* of $10 once but can compete in up to two events\, with only their fastest time being counted (see the AMA website for full details). \n*SAMA will reimburse the AMA fee paid by financial club members. \n \nState Masters Athletics Championships – General Information\nWinter Championship Events are held on every SAMA competition week during the 2026 Winter Season. They are for all SAMA members\, and we encourage you to enter. NB. Only financial competing members can enter championship events.\nEntries for all Championships can be made on the day – please come at least 20 minutes before your event to register. Results are determined by 5 year age groups and this means you will competing against those in your age group. A Certificate showing placing\, performance and age-graded percentage for all their events\, will be available to all participating entrants following the completion of all Winter Championships. \n\n \nRefreshments at Winter Competitions\nThe social aspect of our competitions is important\, and participants are encouraged to mingle afterwards. Bring your own drinks in a travel mug/thermos. Some shared treats would also be appreciated. \nCOMPETITORS ARE REMINDED THAT THEY MUST BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLES

SUMMARY:SAMA Winter Competition - Week 7 - Relay Challenge #2
DESCRIPTION:Week 7 of SAMA winter competition at Felixstow Reserve – Relay Challenge #2 – will have the following event (scratch): \nRun/Club Walk Relay – from 2.15pm; total distance 8km.2km or 4km leg per person – touch handover (see panel below for full details about the Relay Challenges). \nTeams can consist of three persons\, with two doing 2km and one doing 4km\, or a two person team with both doing 4km.  No need to nominate beforehand\, since teams will be organised on the day. \nIt is all based on handicaps so there is no disadvantage for slower athletes. Teams can be runners\, walkers or a mixture of both. \nPrizes will be awarded to all members of the winning team. \nA shared Afternoon Tea is not being requested this week.  See notice below about Refreshments at Winter Competitions. \nCourse map:  Felixstow 2km 2019 r2 AC1 \n \nRelay Challenges \n\n\n\n> Handicapped Team events – 3 competitors per team\, regardless of whether a runner or walker (ie. can be all runners\, all walkers or mixed).\n\n\n> Competitors can nominate a team or be allocated to one on the day.\n\n\n\n> Total distance increases each week; 6km\, 8km and 10km. Each competitor completes a leg of 1 or 2 loops (to make total distance).\n\n\n> Scratch start for all teams by athlete doing first leg only.
