SUMMARY:SAMA Winter Competition - Week 5 - Half-Marathon Walk Championships & Half-Marathon Run Championships
DESCRIPTION:Week 5 of SAMA winter competition to be held at Adelaide Harriers Clubrooms (Park 20)\, Peacock Road\, Adelaide including the following events: \nWalks – SAMA Half-Marathon Walk State Championships at 9.30am (note change of start time*).  There will be SAMA Championships for both Race Walkers and Club Walkers.\nOther distances on offer – 10km\, 8km\, 6km\, 4km & 2km (all scratch) at 10.00am. \nRuns – SAMA Half-Marathon State Championships at 10.00am.\nOther distances on offer – 10km\, 8km\, 6km\, 4km & 2km (all scratch) at 10.00am. \n*The earlier start time means the walkers should finish about 12.00 noon which is the time the slower runners should finish.\nThe SAMA Half-Marathon Race Walk Championships on Sunday 9 August will constitute one South Australian race eligible for the 2026 AMA Postal Half Marathon Racewalking Championships (see below for entry information).\nThe other SA race eligible for the AMA Championships is the ASA State Road Walk Championships on 4th July 2026. \nNote regarding setting Walk Records\nAt this time both AMA and SAMA have 20km Walk records\, so we will time Race Walkers as they cross 20km as well as at the finish. \nEntry Information\nThe SAMA Winter Championships are for all members\, and we encourage you to enter. Entries for these Championships can be made on the day – please come at least 20 minutes before your event to register. See panel below for more information. \nEntry for the SAMA event is at no charge for members\, but if you wish to enter the 2026 AMA Postal Half Marathon Racewalking Championships it is necessary to register beforehand. Go to the AMA website and follow the instructions there. \nCourse Information\nCourse Map Link: 2km-Walk-Course-Map-Park20-2026 \nPost Event Get Together\n\nThis will be held inside the Adelaide Harriers Clubrooms (cnr Peacock Rd  & Sth Terrace\, Adelaide). SAMA will provide tea/coffee/milk and have the urn going for everyone. Please bring your own cups! Those in the Half Marathons\, helpers and anyone else staying to see the finish might like to bring their own lunch for a post event get together. \nThere will NOT be a Winter Presentation this year. DESCRIPTION:Winter Track & Field at SA Athletics Stadium on Saturday 1 August in the afternoon. \nSAMA is holding a Track & Field meet to farewell its Daegu entrants. \nAll SAMA members\, friends and family are encouraged to come along and help our entrants get some needed track competition. DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS\nFriday Night Lights is a high-energy\, community-driven athletics showcase designed to activate the stadium precinct on the eve of the Adelaide Invitational. It blends elite athlete engagement\, family-friendly entertainment\, running participation\, and club/school involvement to create an accessible\, festival-style experience that brings the broader running community closer to the sport. \nDATE: Friday 13 March 2026 \nTIME: 6:00pm to 9.00pm \nLOCATION: SA Athletics Stadium\, Mile End \nSee the ASA Website for more details\, including the proposed timetable. \nRun with the Stars\nThe Australian men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams will compete against open teams selected from nominations. DESCRIPTION:State Masters Athletics Championships Throws Pentathlon at 9.00am\, 10000m Walks (both Race and Club walks) and 10000m Run at 8.30am. \nAthletes need to arrive by 30 min before their event:Walkers and Runners at 8amThrowers at 8.30am.  \nThe three events are to be held  concurrently: \nThrows Pentathlon – 8.30am check in\, 9.00am start. \n10000m Walks (Race and Club walks)– 8.00am check in\, 8.30 am start. \n10000m Run – 8.00am check in\, 8.30 am start. \nTo enter you need to nominate at the information desk on a Wednesday night or email Marinus Haccou. \nNo additional charge payable – SAMA will cover the cost of entry.\nThere will be no requirement to pay a stadium entry fee at the gate. \n \nState Masters Athletics Championships – General Information\nNo charge for the Hurdles\, T&F Pentathlons or Steeplechase – just the normal stadium entry fee.\nThrows Pentathlon and 10km Track Walks and 10km Track Run (1st March)\, Main T&F (25th March and 1st April).
