SUMMARY:SAMA Winter Competition - Week 5 - Half-Marathon Walk Championships & Half-Marathon Run Championships and Winter Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Week 5 of SAMA winter competition to be held at Adelaide Harriers Clubrooms (Park 20)\, Peacock Road\, Adelaide including the following events: \nWalks – SAMA Half-Marathon Walk State Championships at 10.00am.  There will be SAMA Championships for both Race Walkers and Club Walkers.\nOther distances on offer – 10km\, 8km\, 6km\, 4km & 2km (all scratch) at 10.00am. \nRuns – SAMA Half-Marathon State Championships at 10.00am.\nOther distances on offer – 10km\, 8km\, 6km\, 4km & 2km (all scratch) at 10.00am. \nThe SAMA Half-Marathon Race Walk Championships on Sunday 9 August will constitute one South Australian race eligible for the 2026 AMA Postal Half Marathon Racewalking Championships (see below for entry information).\nThe other SA race eligible for the AMA Championships is the ASA State Road Walk Championships on 4th July 2026. \nNote regarding setting Walk Records\nAt this time both AMA and SAMA have 20km Walk records\, so we will time Race Walkers as they cross 20km as well as at the finish. \nEntry Information\nThe SAMA Winter Championships are for all members\, and we encourage you to enter. Entries for these Championships can be made on the day – please come at least 20 minutes before your event to register. See panel below for more information. \nEntry for the SAMA event is at no charge for members\, but if you wish to enter the 2026 AMA Postal Half Marathon Racewalking Championships it is necessary to register beforehand. Go to the AMA website and follow the instructions there. \nCourse Information\nCourse Map Link: 2km-Walk-Course-Map-Park20-2026 \nFollowed by the Winter Presentation\n\nThis will be held inside the Adelaide Harriers Clubrooms (cnr Peacock Rd  & Sth Terrace\, Adelaide). BYO refreshments – see the notice below. \nCertificates will be presented to all participating entrants in the SAMA Winter Championships\, showing placing\, performance and age-graded percentage for all their events. We shall also acknowledge our record achievers and volunteer helpers at the Winter Presentation. \nNB.  These events are being at Park 20 in the Adelaide South Parklands (start near Adelaide Harriers Clubrooms off Peacock Road – see the accompanying venue map) \nParking Options \n\nin South Terrace both east and west\nalong Peacock Road\nalong Unley Road\n\n \nRefreshments at the Winter Presentation\nPlease bring a plate to share. \nTea and Coffee to be provided by SAMA. \n\n \nState Masters Athletics Championships – General Information\nWinter Championship Events are held on every SAMA competition week during the 2026 Winter Season. They are for all SAMA members\, and we encourage you to enter. NB. Only financial competing members can enter championship events.\nEntries for all Championships can be made on the day – please come at least 20 minutes before your event to register. Results are determined by 5 year age groups and this means you will competing against those in your age group. A Certificate is awarded to all participating entrants\, showing placing\, performance and age-graded percentage for all their events\, which will be presented at the Winter Presentation to he held following Week 5 of winter competition on 9 August 2026. \n\n \n2026 Winter Season Notes \n\n\n\n> The SAMA program this winter will be just the five championship days and will change to Sundays. Please note the start times! George White will act as Winter Coordinator for these events\n\n\n> Walkers Club have events every week on Saturdays from 11th April to 12th September. CLICK HERE for their program.\n\n\n\n> At all SAMA events the main race(s) and all supporting races will start at the same time\n\n\n> Bring your own Afternoon tea\n\n\n> Records for winter distances will be accepted from any race conducted on an AIMS certified course. (Does not normally include any parkruns). Walk records will only be accepted if the race was judged and with supporting lap score sheet and judge’s summary.
