SAMA Policy on Mask Wearing

Whilst current SA Government COVID-19 restrictions indicate that ‘a mask is not required to be worn outdoors if the physical distancing principle is complied with’, SAMA strongly urges all participants at its events to consider wearing a mask when in close vicinity of other persons, such as at the start/finish line and check-in location, and all other times when it is not possible to comply with the physical distancing principle.  This does not apply to athletes when undergoing physical exertion, or at the start of a race in which they are competing.  Spectators are permitted at outdoor sports, and are encouraged to wear a mask if physical distancing is not practical.
